Plumbing Services to Tackle Your Copper Pipe Problems

Most modern buildings have plumbing that will eventually need pipe repairs. Iron pipes, copper pipes, and even CPVC (a type of PVC) pipes are subject to the need for pipe repairs. Builders rarely install iron pipes in residential properties anymore because they often call for plumbing services and it is much less expensive to install CPVC pipes. Additionally, CPVC pipes require a lot less pipe repairs than steel pipes.

Until recently, people thought that copper pipes were the very best value in piping. Experts said that copper pipes could not corrode and that it was not possible for minerals and other sediment to clog their interior walls. If this were the case, copper pipes would never need pipe repairs from plumbing services. Recently, copper pipes have begun to fail prematurely. Some copper systems have needed pipe repairs as early as two years after installation.

No one is sure why there has been the increase in corrosion and build up of sediment in copper pipe systems. Some experts theorize that the decline in copper pipe strength is due to manufacturers’ use of sub grade copper. Whatever the problem is, it has gotten to the point in which even simple pipe repairs of things like pinhole leaks will be indicative of a larger problem.

Usually when copper pipes need the repair of plumbing services, the copper system will need more and more repairs until the fourth or fifth repair when the plumber will recommend repiping the building. To repipe a building is to make pipe repairs such that the plumber replaces all of the pipes in the building.

In order to prevent the need for extensive plumbing services, it is a good idea to use CPVC pipes when plumbing a house or to use a process such as ACE Duraflo to coat the interior of existing copper pipes with an epoxy barrier.
